DFD Diagram Essay - 275 Words

Data flow diagram (Essay Sample) Content: NameInstitutionDate Question 1Systems design undergoes a lot of processes and stages. This is taken so that all the processes that are required have been made. This is the reason there is a need to have a thorough system analysis process when creating a system. This paper will look at the DFD diagram for Scenic information system that will be used to manage tourism guide and tour packages (Preiss, 2007). Context diagramA system context diagram is a diagram that is used in the design of a system to represent or depict external factors that are of importance and which interact with the system but are external to the system. According to Kerlinger (1979), this kind of diagram centralizes the system and encapsulates the systems interior structure .The external actors, interacting elements, environments and activities form the immediate surroundings .The main focus and intention of a system context diagram is to identify and put into consideration the external actors and i nteractions of these actors with the system and to factor them during system design and development of requirements and constraints (Kerlinger, 1979). EMBED Visio.Drawing.11 DFD diagram (Level-0 diagram)A Data Flow diagram is also referred to as a level-0 diagram. In this diagram there are some details which are added to the context diagram of the system that is designed. A DFD shows the nature and kind of data that will be input into the system and what output will be expected from the system, the source of the inputs to the system and where the data will be stored. However it doesnt show information about the timing of processes or information about whether processes will operate in sequence or in paralle (Welman Kruger, 2001). Here, input, output and the storage details are added to the context diagram. This is shown in the diagram below: EMBED Visio.Drawing.11 Level 1 diagramA level 1 data flow Diagram shows the main functional components and areas of the system under investigation. A level 1 diagram is designed based on the system context diagram. In this stage, the processes that are needed in the process are indicated. It is at this stage where the details of the processes are added. In this stage, we have added the order type that is being dealt with (Troubleshooting, research and development and experimentation, 2011).
